I have a question...

Knowing that bloggers are a well travelled lot, does anyone out there know anything about Suffolk and /or Norfolk? We are hoping to go that way soon for a short break but know nothing about the area and where would be a good place to head for. Any thoughts gratefully recieved! Thank You.

If you are interested I could thoroughly recommend Peter Beales'
Rosegarden in Norfolk - well worth a visit!

Hello! I live on the Norfolk/Suffolk border so probably qualify to comment. Holidays depend on the sort of thing you want. Southwold is a little, quiet, quaint town by the sea. Snape is lovely too, with quite a few crafty shops or you could try Aldburgh which has lots of events on throughout the year to commemerate Benjamin Britten, if you're the musical type.

If you like trees and countryside, Elveden Forest is a nice place to walk around. There's a CentreParcs site there as well if you're looking for somewhere to stay.

If you're a shopper then Norwich is good and so is Newmarket.

If you decide to stay at a carvan site then take your woolly nightwear it's getting pretty cold over here now. There are a lot of farmhouse b&bs and cottages around if that's more your thing.

Sorry to leave an anonymous comment but I can't remember my blogger password! If you want some more info, if you search "witterpile" you should find my blog.

Depends on what you want to do, but we love the North Norfolk coast around Sheringham - coastal walks, fab coastline, fresh fish, historic houses, lovely individual shops to browse in Holt and Sheringham (no chain stores!). We have been holidaying in that area for 30 odd years, and still love it!

I went to Norfolk years ago on holiday. I loved it, but it's quite flat, MrL like smore trees, he said. Rural, agricultural, lovely poeple, nice places to eat, good beaches. We stayed near Holt. Not sure if that tells you much, but we had a very good holiday self catering, beside a pub.

Hi Goosey, If you want a different view of Norfolk as mentioned above North Norfolk is a place to visit. Bird reserves at Cley, Titchwell and seals at Wells/Blakeney. Different countryside to the flat lands further south. Thetford is worth a visit to for the Norfolk Brecklands, and in Suffolk, Southwold is always worth a visit. Enjoy your trip, BR

If you're after steam trains, try Bressingham: http://www.bressingham.co.uk/

It's got a nice garden centre next door to mooch around, too.

Sorry, it's anonymous Witterer from the Woodpile again - must find that password!
